Interviews with famous Russian-speaking travelers

Overview
“I am arriving” is the first collection of interviews with famous Russian-speaking travelers, published in Russia, as well as in Belarus and in Ukraine, and wherever the language is known.
Attention! Traveling in the book is only half the story. Its heroes are representatives of various professions and hobbies: bloggers, writers, journalists, guides, athletes, scientists, businessmen, photographers and other creatives— but not “ordinary” travelers. They have found their true selves: for them, traveling, creativity and life are synonymous. The questions are answered by Alexander Semyonov, a marine biologist from Moscow State University; Olga Michi, the creator of the Béton Visual Culture Center; Mariusz Wilk, the author of six books about the Russian North; Peter Lovygin, a photographer and video blogger; Marianna Krupnitskaya, a freediver with world records; and more than 20 other characters, including the author of the book. These interviews were first published in the cult media Arrivo.ru in 2015–2017. The book is without pictures, likes, links and banner ads — for thoughtful reading and total zen.
It will appeal to anyone who travels but looks at it broadly — as a movement through life and through people, not to specific places, however beautiful (or cheap) they may be. The book will also be useful to anyone who wants to turn traveling and creativity into a life’s work, to do what they love and make money doing it.
The main thing in traveling is the people in beautiful scenery and a road full of beautiful people.

Author

Ivan Kuznetsov is an outdoor journalist, editor and writer, and a co-founder of the creative studio Panoramica in the Italian Alps.
He started traveling from birth: when he was six months old, his parents moved from St. Petersburg to a provincial city of Nizhny Novgorod, 500 km from Moscow, where he grew up and lived until the age of 22. From there, he made his first independent trip — to the United States for three months on a cultural exchange program for students Work & Travel USA in 2004. Since 2011, he has been slowly traveling non-stop and has visited more than 25 countries in Europe, North America and Asia.
As a journalist and editor, he has authored more than 200 interviews with various famous and local heroes about travel, outdoor activities, creativity, communities and other closely related topics for leading media and blogs, and his other books.

Ten inspirational stories about freelancing from “I am arriving” — Digital Broccoli (Rus)
Reviews
Whoo-hoo! Thanks, Ivan. Cool.
— Timur Akhmetov, hiking photographer and hero of the book, Kazan, Tatarstan — Anadyr, Chukotka, Russia
After every interview, you want to ask, “Could you do that?” You could. The book is inspiring. There are so many interesting people in it, who turn the idea of life upside down. I also liked the format of the collection, because no one has time to follow all the travel projects and bloggers, and here everything is collected in one place — it is convenient. After reading it, I want the second part.
— Olga Satunkina, editor at Yandex, Altai, Siberia — Sochi, Russia
“I am arriving” is about travelers and unique people, who inspire you. I am happy to be one of them.
— Marianna Krupnitskaya, freediver with world records and hero of the book, Moscow — France
Vanya is a rare master of a good interview. Not a freeloader, as popular nowadays “journalists”, but a real and interesting person who is a friend of the word. After talking to him, I stopped answering questions sent from all kinds of press. The bar has been raised.
— Alexander Ivanov, eco-builder and hero of the book, Murmansk — Chachzhaevka village, Altai, Russia
It’s so inspiring to see your dreams come true! And thanks for the interview, it was unusual to feel like an interviewee.
— Yakov Lebedev, professional guide in the Arctic and hero of the first edition of the book, Saint Petersburg, Russia — Norway
It is a pity that the travel publication Arrivo has closed down. The basis of the site was in your conversations with Timur, the first editor-author, which you conducted in a very interesting, competent and elegant way. So I will be waiting for your new accomplishments.
— Natalia Korneva, author of the blog “By Russia” (Never Stop) and hero of the book, Saint Petersburg, Russia
Very cool! Thank you so much for such an inspiring example.
— Olesya Rekunova, co-founder of HelloFerma glamping and hero of the book, Ekaterinburg, Ural, Russia
A couple of years ago, Ivan asked me in an interview for Arrivo: “Do you have a chance to think about the eternal in the ocean?”. You see, Vanya, your question has been on my mind for a long time. Today I’m thinking about the eternal in a substantive way. This book is like a memo “How to find yourself”.
— Marina Klochkova, twice round-the-world Travely Family yachtsman and hero of the book, Novosibirsk, Siberia, Russia
Ivan approaches his characters very carefully (like a photographer approaches a lynx, or a psychotherapist approaches a client). His interviews are thoughtful, deep, ironic, and always have the author’s thinking behind them. It is always important for him to get to the underlying “why” of the character. This book — it is wider than just “about traveling”, it is about the Way.
— Evgenia Lantsova, the creator of Tenderpublishing.ru and the hero of the first edition of the book, Moscow — Goa, India
Awesome! Where to buy? I can see it! Buying.
— Elizaveta Gracheva, blogger of “In Your Own Way” and hero of the book, Saint Petersburg — Southeast Asia
Read the detailed reviews (Russian) and many others and get inspired for your travels.
